Our business is centered around our spaces. We embrace this privilege as a great opportunity to help provide a more sustainable future through a commitment to energy conservation. Some examples of our work include:

Energy Conservation

  • The conversion of an interior office building and parking lot lighting to more efficient LED alternatives
  • The installation of lighting controls with occupancy sensors to minimize their usage
  • The installation of smarter systems such as demand control ventilation
  • The use of variable frequency drives to manage pumps and fans in HVAC system
  • The use of building management systems to help maximize energy efficiency

Water Conservation

  • The use of rain sensors on irrigation systems to reduce water usage
  • The installation of water bottle filling stations to encourage reusable containers

Our commitment to the community.

A thriving community is vital to our collective future. From the parks we all use to the preservation of our history, First Martin is dedicated to Ann Arbor. Some examples of our commitment include:

Parks Preservation and City Beautification

  • We sponsor the popular Wheeler Park and Liberty Plaza
  • We beautify the Nixon Roundabout by installing and maintaining seasonal landscape
  • We donated the flower planters to elevate Main Street
  • We donate flowers for planters along Liberty and Maynard

Historic Preservation

  • We successfully restored the grandeur of the historic First National Building located at 201 S Main Street
  • We helped preserve the railroad trestle at 201 Depot with a 1950s coal car — now a historic display
  • During construction of a hotel, we proudly retained the historic Ann Arbor Bus Depot façade
  • We restored one of Ann Arbor’s most iconic signs: the Bus Depot on W. Huron Street

Our Memberships

Our commitment to giving back.

Since 1968, giving back has always been our priority. We support non-profit organizations and local programs by volunteering our time, providing donations, in-kind donations, and grants through First Martin Corporation and the Martin Family Foundation, our founder’s private family foundation. All focused on positive community impact.
